York Homecoming

York Homecoming is a celebration of the founding of York, which was April 6, 1881 and known at the time as York Station. It is the Saturday closest to April 6th (April 4, 2015) and is held in downtown York and Historic Avenue A. There will be some good ‘ol Southern food, craft vendors, and local entertainment.

World’s Widest Yard Sale

The World’s Widest Yard Sale takes place the third Friday and Saturday of April, April 17th – 18th, 2015, and is a project of the Alabama Rural Development Office, the Black Belt Commission, and the Chambers and Cities all along Highway 80 from Texas to Georgia and Phenix City to Cuba in Alabama. Sucarnooche Folklife Festival

The Sucarnochee Folklife Festival is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the unique life ways of Black Belt residents. This is a radio show that is a live production and is syndicated for radio and television broadcast by Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Its purpose is to showcase instrumental artists in the Black Belt Region of Mississippi and Alabama while preserving the traditional music of the area and promoting new original works. The program is broadcast to public radio stations throughout the south and other regions of the United States, internet radio, and international radio stations.

Black Belt Prairie Guided Walk
